India to showcase clean initiatives at upcoming ministerialMontek Singh Ahluwalia, the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission has said that the country is planning to showcase tis clean energy initiatives to the world during the upcoming Clean Energy Ministerial next week.

The country is hosting the Clean Energy Ministerial that is a platform for promoting policies and programmes that advance clean energy technology. Ahluwalia said that the countries who will be represented at the event should know about India's energy policy.

"We have taken many clean initiatives such as the National Solar Mission that the world is interested in. We have done innovative things. Many countries would be using smart grids and our people can learn from them," Ahluwalia said.

B. K. Chaturvedi, Member for Energy at the Planning Commission clarified that the Clean Energy Ministerial is not a platform to discuss green obligations and it will not be a part of the agenda at the event. He said that the UNFCCC is a platform for discussing such environmental obligations and not the Clean Energy Ministerial. He pointed out those countries like China and South Korea are participating in the event and the representatives are likely to discuss policies and programmes of the governments for promoting clean energy.
