ICML Launches New Rhino MUV Variant

International Cars and Motors Ltd New Delhi: Multi Utility Vehicle (MUV) maker, International Cars and Motors Ltd (ICML) has rolled out a new variant of its 100 bhp MUV 'Rhino Rx,' which is priced between Rs 6-7 lakh.

The newly launched ‘Rhino Rx’ comes with a 2,000cc, Bharat Stage (BS) III compatible diesel engine along with four-cylinder direct injection. It has a maximum power of 100 bhp (3600rpm) with a maximum torsion of 220 Nm (2,400rpm). Besides, it has a maximum journeying speed of 160 kmph.

With its fuel consumption rate of 15-17 km a litre, ‘Rhino Rx’ is said to be the most fuel-efficient vehicle in the category. It will be available in three different variants S1, S2 and DLX.

L D Mittal, company’s Chairman stated, “We are located in the tax free zone with no excise duty and income tax for the next ten years. This enables us to save about Rs two lakh per vehicle and this we pass on to the consumers in terms of low price of our car.”

The company’s Amb (Himachal Pradesh) based plant has an installed yearly capacity of 24,000 vehicles.

Deepak Mittal, company Managing Director has anticipated around 5,000 vehicles to be produced by the end of the recent fiscal (2008) and 24,000 Rhino’s a year by 2010.

The company said that the new car will be available in Delhi by next month (February). It has roped in 170 dealers for its sales and after sales services, and has 45 such dealers already operational.

Now the company has plans to introduce a 'World Car' by 2010 together with Italy-based Pininfarnia.

Established in 1930, Pininfarina is an Italian car design company and coachbuilder in Turin. Over the years Pininfarina has been hired by many automobile makers including  Ferrari, Maserati, Cadillac, Nash, Peugeot, Jaguar, Volvo, Alfa Romeo, MG, Cisitalia, and Lancia.
