Hyundai planning to launch i10 diesel to take on Figo

Hyundai As the battle in the Indian compact car market is entering the next phase, it is believed that the Indian automobile industry may soon see rivalry intensifying between the Korean and American car makers, namely Hyundai Motor that is planning to launch a diesel variant of its next-generation car i10 to counter the growth of Ford Figo.

Hyundai Motor India (HMI) MD H W Park said that the Figo and not Nissan's 'Micra' will be keeping Hyundai motors India on its toes. Moreover, Park also highlighted the fact that the company was looking at the option of launching the i10 diesel in the Indian market.

The flagship product of Hyundai motors has been facing the heat from the sales of Figo and the refurbished WagonR from the market leader Maruti Suzuki. However, Park did not confirm the timeline for the launch of the i10 diesel but also said that the company will be launching the Santa Fe in the Indian market very soon. The company has so far no plans to phase out its best-selling Santro as it believes that there is still demand for the product in the Indian market.
