Huge crowds at Auto Expo ignores male promoters
The Auto Expo 2012, which is being organized at Pragati Maidan, in New Delhi, has attracted a huge number of visitors fighting for space among new shiny car models from a host of global manufacturers.
While the crowd focuses n car models and female models prompting them, there is very little attention to male models promoting vehicles at the show. Male promoters are about a tenth of the total strength of promoters at the motorshow but believe that they are unwanted at the event. Even the payment for working as a promoter for males is half that for female.
The largest automotive show in India will see a significantly enlarged participation from international players. There are huge consignments from German and Chinese auto makers from the international market while Indian manufacturers have enthusiastically booked up space.
International players are increasingly looking at the Indian market because it is one of the very few markets offering growth prospects compared to the stagnated markets in the developed world. Indian market also has a huge potential for growth in the coming years as the car ownership is still low in Asia’s third largest economy.
The expo is being jointly organized by Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
