HTC announces its high-end Windows Phone 8X smartphoneWithin two weeks of Nokia's unveiling of its Windows Phone 8-based Lumia 920 smartphone, Taiwanese handset-maker HTC has recently announced its new Windows Phone 8 handset --- the high-end Windows Phone 8X.

Announcing the new device, along with another Windows Phone 8 smartphone - Windows Phone 8S -, HTC said that Windows Phone 8X will be offered by AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile in the US. The company also revealed that both 8X and 8S will hit the markets in November, and will be available form 140 mobile carriers worldwide.

Boasting a 4.3-inch HD Gorillia Glass display, the 8X will be comparatively smaller, thinner and lighter than Nokia's Lumia 920; and its other key features will include a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor; HTC's image chip; an 8-megapixel back camera; a 2.1-megapixel front camera; Bluetooth 2.1; Windows Phone 8 OS, and 4G LTE capability.

With a very sleek form factor and a notably fetching hardware design, the 8X will also feature Beats Audio, which provides high-quality sound if a speaker or set of headphones is attached to the handset's 3.5mm jack.

Describing the 8X as well as 8S as the first "Signature Windows Phone devices" which have been developed by HTC in "close collaboration with Microsoft," Tom Harlin - Director of Public Relations at HTC - said that designs of both the handsets are "inspired by live tiles and Windows 8 software;" and added: "We hope these are the best Windows Phones out there."
