How Zardari “joked” Nawaz out of making arch nemesis Aitzaz Punjab Guv!
Lahore, Sept 12 : Newly sworn in Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari declined PML-N leader and former premier Nawaz Sharif’s call of installing Supreme Court Bar Association President Aitzaz Ahsan as the next Punjab Governor, saying in a lighter vein that by doing so the Governor House would become “a centre of anti-PPP rallies”.
When, earlier this week, Zardari asked who the new governor should be, Nawaz named Ahsan, but the former refused saying light-heartedly that the Governor’s House would become a hub of anti-PPP rallies if Aitzaz was made the governor, reported the Daily Times.
According to the paper, the demand was made at a meeting between a PML-N delegation led by Nawaz Sharif and Zardari after his election as president on September 8.
Nawaz had asked Zardari to change the Punjab governor, said sources privy to the meeting. (ANI)
