House prices climb in UK during April despite rise in supply
Housing prices soared 6.05 per cent in April surpassing 5.3 per cent rise witnessed in March. The rise was strongly higher than the year-ago period.
Interestingly, prices moved up in April despite a rise in supply, which was expected to bring down home prices. With more sellers coming out to put their houses for sale, the price has increased rather than going down.
Looking at the data, the prices in April were 2.6 per cent i. e. £235,512 higher than March. Location wise, different rates of price changes have been reported across the country. London led the way with an annual increase of nine per cent.
According to Miles Shipside, Commercial Director of Rightmove, as the weather disturbance was out of the way and increasing number of buyers were ready to buy, sellers managed better prices at the market.
As per the sources, house prices, which touched their lowest during 2008, had recovered nearly half of their lost value by the second half of 2009.
Shipside added that any election result would be better than no result as a hung parliament might just suspend the market movements till greater certainty returns.
