Hero MotoCorp net profit falls 27% in second quarter
Hero MotoCorp, the biggest two-wheeler maker in India, has recorded a fall of 27 per cent in net profit during the second quarter of the financial year.
Net profit was recorded at the level of Rs 441 crore against Rs 604 crore in the same quarter of the previous financial year. The total sales of the company fell 14 per cent in the second quarter till September 2012. Hero managed to sell 13.32 lakh units in the quarter against 15.44 lakh units sold in the same quarter of the previous year.
The net sales revenue of the company fell 11 per cent at Rs 5,151 crore compared to Rs 5,784 crore during the second quarter of the year. Ravi Sud, CFO of Hero MotoCorp pointed out that the increase in fixed cost and a fall in sales during the quarter led to the fall in profitability.
Pawan Munjal, MD & CEO of the company said, "The two-wheeler market has been adversely impacted due to the overall market slowdown and prevailing sentiments since the beginning of this quarter."
The company has already cut its production during the second quarter keeping in line with the market conditions.
