According to the recently made announcement by the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court focusing on the prevention and treatment of dengue has made it quite evident that the successive governments have been neglecting public health for a very long time now. For instance, the apathy of the government is the malaria prevention division is a case in point.

For the record, the responsibility of the division is to keep a check on the mosquito-borne diseases. While the division is working on the assessment done by back in the 70s, there is no denying to the fact that the population of the city has increased by five times since then.

It may be noted here that the data explains the reasons of why the patients have acquired dengue and viral fever in the city this year. For the uninitiated close to 75 people have died in the past three months besides the thousands of ill people who have been suffering from this disease.

However, the high court has recently directed the state health department to provide the number of patients who are currently admitted in the city hospitals in monsoon and post-monsoon season.
