Ambedkarnagar, (Uttar Pradesh), May 5 : Taking a jibe at Congress President Sonia Gandhi, who has strongly criticized Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for insulting brave soldiers to ask votes, the latter on Monday said he is happy asking for something from people instead of looting them like the Congress.

"Sonia Gandhi said that Modi is asking for votes which is derogatory as I used the catch phrase "Ye dil maange more". She said that I am openly asking for votes, but I want to tell you that I am not ashamed of asking for votes as public is god for me, and asking for something from god is not a sin," said Modi.

"I also want to say that I am happy asking for something from the people rather than looting them," he said.

He further said that the Congress had ruined the country ad were playing politics by inflicting violence.

"This is not an election that is being fought by parties, but by people. Do you want a country which plays politics with guns and pistols, which creates violence? Do you want a country where criminals sit in the parliament?" asked Modi

"I met this lady Sanju Devi here; atrocities had been committed on her. Her husband was killed at such a young age. What is government doing? What is the mother son (Sonia Gandhi and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi) duo doing? I promise you that once the BJP comes to power there won't be any Sanju Devi in the country," he said.

"The results will be out in a few days and the BJP will come to power. One this happens we will make the parliament criminal free. We will investigate each and every politician with a criminal record. If you want the parliament to be free of criminals than give me your blessing," he added.

Sonia Gandhi on Sunday accused Modi of allegedly using the name of Kargil martyr Captain Vikram Batra in his rally in Himachal Pradesh last week to grab the PM's chair and said that it was an insult to the brave soldiers and also an attack on fundamental values of Indian democracy. (ANI)
