Cologne, Germany  - Ford is offering a super Green version of the Fiesta with consumption reduced to under four litres of diesel fuel in the Econetic version in fine-tuning the aerodynamics, improving the drive ratio and fitting low rolling resistance tyres.

Compared to the standard 1.6 litre-version with a consumption of 4.2 litres, the Econetic achieves 3.7 litres putting it on a par with the Seat Ibiza Ecomotive.

The features include a "smart" gear change indicator in the instrument panel which signals the optimum change point to the driver after sensing data such as the road gradient, vehicle load and driving style.

Ford lists the Econetic price at 15,000 euros (19,250 dollars) which is just 250 euros (320 dollars) more than price of the standard version with 4,000 units planned for production this year. (dpa)
