Google revamps its search homepage
Internet giant, Google is planning to revamp its flagship search engine homepage, aimed at promoting the company’s other services without cluttering its webpage.
The company will replace the current black horizontal bar on the homepage with a new grey logo and promote, which will reveal seven alternative services. The feature reveals further eight options when clicked on them.
The new look of the webpage was first announced last year and is being offered only to a limited number of users at the moment. The company spokesperson said that the new look is aimed at improving customers experience on the site.
"Constant revision and improvement is part of our overarching philosophy. If you compare the original Google home page to today's version, you will see that a makeover every so often can certainly be refreshing," he said.
The company has managed to link various services through its homepage without making compromise on the clarity of the service. The company’s front page still resembles its original 1998 design.
Google is aiming to create a complete ecosystem of services including a social networking service in order to complete with rivals including Facebook.
