Google maps now on phones with Microsoft Windows and Symbian OS

googleSearch engine major Google has introduced new version of Google Maps for the mobiles running on Microsoft Windows and Symbian operating systems. One of the main features of this application is Google Maps 3.3, which enables the users to better synchronize the handset with a desktop computer.

A post on Google mobile blog said, "Google Maps for mobile has long allowed you to add stars on a map to mark your favorite places. You may have noticed a few months ago that Google Maps for desktop browsers introduced the ability to star places as well. Unfortunately, there was no way to keep these starred places in sync with Google Maps on your phone."

At the time when the user will upgrade to the new version from an older version of Google Maps, there will be an option for the user to perform a synchronization of existing starred items with his Google Account, which will enable the user to save the customizations made to a map on the mobile phone as well as on Google Maps on the desktop browser at the same time.

As the windows mobile and the Nokia Symbian mobile now carry this functionality, it is most likely that other mobile operating systems will also update with the Google Maps app very soon. Google has also pointed towards the iPhone and Android for next up-gradation.
