Google Inc. pronounced that the latest version of smartphones will be advanced in performance and prove as a benchmark of development. The Android based phones will also serve as Wi-Fi hotspots for other devices.

Google which has already crossed the 100,000 activations a day mark, of Android-powered phones ranks first in total Web and applications usage, as per the data from AdMob. Also in terms of sales it rank second in U. S. smartphone, second to RIM's BlackBerry, according to NPD.

Google's vice president of engineering Vic Gundotra said, "If you believe in openness, choice and innovation from everyone, then welcome to Android."

The VP further hinted on the features aiming at "Froyo," it comes with a "tethering" feature that means Android smartphones can connect other devices to the Internet, even those without a connection.

Another new addition is an ad that expands when users click on it. The format includes a number of new capabilities including click to call, get directions, buy tickets or play rich media. This according to the trade gurus will supposedly become a huge hit in the market.
