GoAir to induct four new planes this financial year
Jeh Wadia-owned low-cost carrier GoAir has announced its decision to further expand its fleet of planes to offer more flights between metro and non-metro cities.
GoAir Chief Executive Giorgio De Roni said that the airline would induct four new planes by the end of FY2013-14 to offer more flights between metro and non-metro cities of India.
Revealing the plans, Roni said, "We are going to add four new aircraft, Airbus A320, by the end of this financial year (2013-14). These would be deployed to increase frequency of flights in certain markets, particularly in metro and non-metro cities."
He also revealed that the airline would induct one plane in July, two planes in October and one plane in February 2014. Post induction of new planes, GoAir's fleet will expand to 19, and the carrier will have the youngest fleet in the country.
The chief also claimed that GoAir had managed to register a profit in the FY2012-13 as well as in first quarter of current financial year because of a rise in demand by 16 per cent.
GoAir currently operates a total of 102 flights per day to twenty-one cities.
Meanwhile, almost all Indian airlines are reportedly planning to hike fares in order to offset the impact of falling value of rupee.
