GM studying domestic market for Chinese LCVs

GM studying domestic market for Chinese LCVsIn a latest development, GM India has been studying the domestic market and conducting market research with an aim to launch the SAIC LCVs in the Indian market.

According to Shanghai General Motors Corporation executive president Joseph YH Liu, the company is currently in the phase of studying the market wherein it will be launching its LCVs soon in the Indian market.

It my be noted here that after GM India converted into a 50:50 JV with SAIC, the company said that it will be launching LCVs for the Indian market by end of 2011 or early 2012.

GM India president and managing director Karl Slym had said that the partnership with SAIC will give the Indian consumer a wider menu from the door of GM and the company will be launching LCVs that will be followed by passenger cars.

The company also mentioned the fact that it may look at the option of exporting the LCVs to markets like South America and Southeast Asia in the coming times, but its primary target will be to establish its LCVs in the Indian market.
