GM India celebrates World Environment Day

GM India celebrates World Environment DayGeneral Motors India, the Indian subsidiary of the Detroit automotive giant GM celebrated the World Environment Day in the Indian market by introducing a line-up of several activities planned across its centres in the domestic circuit.

Normally, the American cars are considered to be the ones that consume more fuel as compared to Japanese which stand for reliability and trust or the German cars which signify high technology and luxury.

However, with its continuous efforts to position itself as a company that care for the consumer, GM has been able to get a share of the consumer's mind space as its hatchbacks Spark and Beat have received good response in the Indian small car market.

Apart from organising several Green activities at its Centres, the company also organised Free Pollution Check Campaigns at all its workshops and issued Free Pollution under Control (PUC) certificates, if the vehicle met the necessary emission requirements.

It may be noted here that the PUC arrangement was done in collaboration with SIAM. Notably, the company is also planning an in-house development of green cars after it broke its ties with the electric carmaker Reva.
