Oil PSU officers put-off indefinite strikeThe executive officers of all public sector oil companies have decided to defer the indefinite strike by one week. Strike was called by their union demanding early disposal of higher wage issue by Union Government. The matter of high wages is pending before the government since January, 2007.

High wages have been recommended by Justice Rao Committee and a Committee of Secretaries has approved it for employees of all public sector units. But the union cabinet has failed to take any decision so far, forcing 50,000 officers in 14 oil PSUs to take extreme step.

Sensex Opens Positive, Up 208.30 Pts Indian equities opened positively despite none too encouraging global signals and moved up further in subsequent trading session as investors went bargain hunting after five successive days of losses.

The 30-share index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 33.47 points, at 8,970.67 on Wednesday.

Metal stocks, among the severely battered in recent sessions, were among the top gainers, while Oil, real estate, banking, capital goods and power stocks also moved up sharply.

UTV Cuts Cost By Reviewing Broadcasting Investment PlansOwing to rising costs and slow down of advertising revenues, UTV Software Communications has announced cut in costs in its broadcasting operations.

The company has consolidated its operations for four television channels - UTV Movies, World Movies, Bindass and Bindass Movies - by phasing out its Delhi operations. UTV ran two channels from Delhi and the other two from Mumbai.

The company has also cut its total investment by over 2 billion rupees to ensure total future investment does not exceed 1 billion rupees.

Aspirin May Mask Prostate Cancer According to a new study, daily dose of aspirin or other "nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug" (NSAID) significantly improves the test results of men with prostate cancer.

By taking aspirin, the level of prostate specific antigen (PSA) getting lower than the level of clinical suspicion. This shows that it is helping the body to fight the disease.

PSA test is a method used to measure the level of prostate cancer, with higher blood PSA levels suggesting a higher chance of having prostate cancer.
