Student Intrudes Into Bangalore Army Camp, Shot Dead

A 20 year old, first year student of Baldwin College, was shot dead early in the morning on Sunday when he intruded into the Flag Staff House in Bangalore.

Army guards shot him as they thought him to be a terrorist when he entered a Brigadier's residence and there after tried to flee.

The student, identified as Mohammad Mukarram, was drag racing with some of his friends on MG Road when the police chased them away.

Mukarram ran and entered the Flag Staff House.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) , BK Singh,  said that the student did not surrender when asked to do so by the sentries and they thus fired three rounds.

Police said that Mukarram was taken to a hospital but he succumbed to his injuries.

Govt Invites Top Travel Writers To See Safe India

After the India's tourism industry being hit by terrorism government has now invited some of the best writers on travel from the US and Europe to help recover the industry.

They shall visit India from January onwards and shall visit exotic destinations and the cities affected by terrorism and to write about how safe is the travel in the country.

An official from tourism said, "Some of the writers will be taken to those cities where terror attacks have taken place so they can write about the security steps taken by the authorities."

DoT To Put Off Auction Of 3G SpectrumThe much-awaited 3G spectrum is likely to be set back by at least a few weeks as DoT has not received sanction from Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) over it.

According to senior DoT officials, earlier, the government has announced 16 January as the date for auctioning of 3G spectrum.

The sources said that the DoT had decided to take Cabinet's permission on higher 3G spectrum charge and number of blocks to be auctioned in order to avoid any controversies in the coming future especially on the back drop of criticism it faced over its 2G policy decisions for new operators.
