Washington, October 30 : Health benefits of wine have been thrown into doubt after a recent study revealed that a regular tipple contains dangerous levels of metal ions, which can cause potential health risks.

Wines from Argentina, Brazil and Italy were the only ones that were estimated to be safe with their various levels of metal content – as per a survey that analysed wines from 16 countries.

According to a detailed study by Professor Declan Naughton and Doctor Andrea Petróczi from Kingston University, the Target Hazard Quotient (THQ) for most wines is estimated to be well below the safe limit of 1.0.

Islamabad, Oct 30 : Pakistan reportedly summoned US Ambassador Anne Patterson last evening and lodged a strong protest against the continued air strikes by US drones inside Pakistani territory, thereby “violating its sovereignty”.

The US envoy was told that the missile attacks had resulted in the loss of lives and property.

“The US ambassador was called to the Foreign Office today and a strong protest was lodged against the continued missile attacks by US drones inside Pakistani territory,” the Daily Times quoted a Foreign Office spokesperson as saying.

The Foreign Office said such attacks were a “violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty” and should be stopped immediately.
