NASA’s Phoenix LanderWashington, Nov 6: The life of Mars Phoenix Lander is literally hanging by a thread, with the solar-powered probe running out of sunlight, a condition that is being described by scientists as the ‘Hospice’ mode.

According to a report in Discovery News, compared to NASA’s long-lived Mars rovers, the ice-sampling Phoenix lander is presently in a communications coma, just five months after touchdown.

But, there is nothing engineers could have done to fix the fundamental problem.

Oxford-educated Jigme Kehsar, 28, took over the kingship from his father, Jigme Singye Wangchuk, 53.

Jigme Khesar has been in office since late 2006 when his popular father announced he was abdicating in favour of his son and at the same time transforming the country from an absolute monarchy into a democracy.

The stock is assigned the scrip code 533029 and is placed in the `B` group on BSE.

At 10.04 a.m. on the BSE, the scrip was trading at Rs 122.50, up 18.93%, and about 357,466 shares got traded within minutes of its listing. The scrip also touched a high of Rs 137.70 and a low of Rs 90.

Chandrayaan-1 is India’s first mission to venture beyond Earth’s orbit.

After launch on 22 October, the spacecraft was first injected into an elliptical 7-hr orbit around Earth, between 255 km and 22 860 km above our planet.
