Suzlon Energy cancels rights issue worth Rs 1800 crore Indian wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon has announced that in view of the current capital market environment, the company has decided to suspend the rights issue of equity shares to a maximum extent of Rs 1800 crore.

The company said that the recent move will not impact original plans of the company.

V-Guard postponed its plans to setup two amusement parks V-Guard, one of the leading electrical and electronic appliances group, has postponed its plans to set up two water theme amusement parks with an aggregate investment of up to Rs 1,200 crore because of land acquisition problems.

The group has shelved its plans of setting up parks near Panvel in Navi Mumbai, following the phenomenal rise of land prices at the proposed site.

Western Europe has lowest levels of income inequality, UN says New York - Western European cities are the most "egalitarian" in the world, said a new study by United Nations Habitat, which compared levels of income inequality in the world's largest cities.

Beijing is the "most equal" in Asia, said UN Habitat, a programme to assist governments in improving housing and living conditions in developing countries.

The study, which was released Monday, said that income inequality is relatively low in Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands and Slovenia.

NMDC registers 48% surge in Q2 Net Profit

NMDC, the largest supplier of iron ore in the country, has registered net profit of Rs 944.93 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, a 48 per cent growth over the same period a year ago. 

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 640.02 crore in the second quarter of FY 2008.

Total income of the company went up by 45 per cent at Rs 1,857.27 crore in the quarter under review, from Rs 1,282.72 crore in the same period last year.
