Melbourne, November 10 : Home-schooled actress Vanessa Hudgens says that doing ‘High School Musical 3’ presented her with an opportunity to have a real high school experience.

The singer, who arrived with beau and co-star Zac Efron in Sydney to attend the film''s George Street premiere, described her Disney phenomenon as a real time exposure.

"I got to make that close group of friends that you would at high school," she said. I got to graduate with them,” the Daily Telegraph quoted her as saying.

Rome, Johannesburg - Tributes began pouring in Monday for South African singer and anti-apartheid icon, Miriam Makeba, who died Sunday from a heart attack in an Italian clinic.

Makeba, 76, collapsed shortly after a performance on Sunday evening and was brought by ambulance to a hospital in Castel Volturno in southern Italy, where she died, a hospital director said.

"She arrived at the Pineta Grande hospital at around 11:15 on Sunday night. By then her heart had stopped beating and all attempts to revive her were unsuccessful," the director, Francesco Longanella, told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.

Madrid , - Two would-be immigrants coming from Africa died while attempting to reach Spain's Canary Islands, local officials said Monday.

The victims were among a total of 123 migrants on board a boat which landed on El Hierro island on Monday.

One of them was dead on arrival, while the other passed away after landing. At least three others were reported in very serious condition. Health workers said the immigrants suffered from symptoms including dehydration and hypothermia.

Berlin - A senior Rwandan official, Rose Kabuye, was in German custody in Frankfurt Monday after she was detained on arrival at Frankfurt international airport under an arrest warrant issued in France.

A spokeswoman for state prosecutors in Frankfurt handling the case said she had denied the two accusations of murder and membership in a terrorist association.

She has been wanted for questioning since November 2006 in connection with the April 6, 1994 killing of Rwandan president Juvenal Habyarimana.

Kabuye, 47, is chief of protocol to Rwandan President Paul Kagame and a leader of the Rwandan Patriotic Front.

Rwanda broke off diplomatic relations with France after the warrant was issued by magistrate Jean-Louis Bruguiere.

Geneva - At least 26 per cent, or 30 species, of north-east Atlantic sharks, rays and chimaeras are threatened with extinction, a study released Monday by the International Union for Conservation of Nature said.

An additional 20 per cent of species surveyed are in the Near Threatened category.

The IUCN said the actual number of sharks threatened may be higher as its study group could only assess about a quarter of all species in the region.

The species in the north-east Atlantic Ocean, off Europe's coasts, are more threatened than in other parts of the world, primarily due to overfishing.

"This is due to accidental and targeted fishing," said Sarah Valenti, one of the report's authors.
