‘Angry’ Kanye West believes MTV Awards were ‘fixed’

London, November 13 : Ten-time Grammy Award-winning Kanye West has expressed his scepticism on MTV’s choice of Award winners.

The rap mogul shook his head in disbelief as winners, such as Britney Spears and Jared Leto, were announced at the American and British award ceremonies this year.

Kanye had his rant at the launch of 808s & Heartbreak, his new album, before the first of his dazzling show at London’s O2 Arena on November 11.

“Britney Spears over Rihanna? Are you serious?” the Sun quoted him as saying.

“I mean f****** Jared Leto? He’s my boy but he shouldn’t have won over some of those other artists,” he added.

Ex-NATO commander says US should let Pak tackle militancy on its own soil

Washington, Nov 13: Former NATO commander Wesley Clark has reportedly advised the US to let Pakistan act against Taliban on its soil.

Advising caution against the US’ overt attacks on targets on the Pakistani side of the Afghan border, Clark, who is a staunch supporter of President-elect Barack Obama, urged anti-terrorism help for Pakistan as well as a broader approach to regional security that should take into account tensions over Kashmir.

“I think it is a dangerous thing for stability in the region to be too heavily overtly involved there. But, on the other hand, Pakistan needs support and assistance. And its government and military are in a very tough fight,” the Daily Times quoted him as saying.

Asian stocks tumble on Wall Street decline, economic worries

Asian stock marketsTokyo - Asian stock markets were in a downward spiral Thursday, tracking overnight losses on Wall Street and falling on persistent worries over a US recession.

The Tokyo stock market extended its losing streak with the Nikkei 225 Stock Average falling 456.87 points, or 5.25 per cent, to close at 8,238.64, a two-week low.

The broader Topix index of all first-section issues was also down 4.31 per cent at 837.53.

Exporters' shares were also hurt by a stronger yen, which reduces Japanese firms' earnings overseas.
