Parkinson''s disease may trigger mental and behavioural changes too

Washington, December 13 : While Parkinson''s disease is known to affect body movements, an online survey has revealed that it can also lead to some mental and behavioural changes.

Dr. Bernard Ravina, the Director of the Movement and Inherited Neurological Disorders Unit at the University of Rochester in New York, describes this condition as `Parkinson's Psychosis'.

He says that patients with Parkinson's disease may experience changes in thought, behaviour, and judgment as the disease progresses.

Patil says ''Nature Trail'' will promote education among students

Pratibha PatilNew Delhi, Dec 13 : President Pratibha Patil today said that the President''s Estate serves as an ideal platform for promoting education about natural and environmental awareness amongst students and visitors.

Inaugurating the ''Nature Trail'', inside the President''s Estate, Patil said she was happy about the initiative taking shape and hoped that it would bring the President''s Estate closer to the people.

She also hoped the public would learn more about the importance of the environment.

Moderate polling in Rajender Nagar Assembly constituency

New Delhi, Dec 13 : Moderate polling was reported in the Rajendra Nagar Assembly constituency in West Delhi on Saturday afternoon.

Polling began this morning on a slow note, but later picked up in the 160 polling stations of the constituency.

Twelve candidates are in the fray from this constituency.

The polling was rescheduled following the death of BJP candidate Puran Chand Yogi.

Yogi, 73, was a three-time BJP legislator from Rajinder Nagar. He was seeking re-election for the third time from the seat.

He was first elected to the Assembly in 1993 and was re-elected in 1998 and 2003. In the last Assembly polls, he had defeated Raj Kumar Kohli of Congress by 891 votes.

Gold industry in Rajkot passing through a lean phase

Gujarat MapRajkot, Dec 13 (ANI): The gold industry in Rajkot is passing through a lean phase as most of the orders placed by Mumbai''s traders were cancelled or put on hold after Mumbai militant strikes.

Nearly 50,000 workers are employed in various gold-manufacturing units across the city.

A jewellery trader from Rajkot, Krishnakant Patadia, said that prior to Mumbai terror strike, the market was functioning well and artisans were working from morning till evening, but now they are working only for four to five hours.

Chinese told not to wear pyjamas in public!

London, Dec 13 : Community leaders in Shanghai have set out to tackle city's most intractable social problems - wearing pyjamas in public.

The neighbourhood committee - a volunteer outpost of the Communist Party - in the city''s northeastern district of Rixin has decided that wearing pyjamas in the public should be discouraged.

Guo Xilin, a local official called pyjamas "visual pollution".

"We''re telling people not to wear pyjamas in the street because it looks very uncivilised," the Telegraph quoted Xilin as telling local media.

However, one elderly resident said: "Pyjamas are also a type of clothes. It''s comfortable, and it''s no big deal."

State Department to partner Intel to support IT training of teachers, students

Intel LogoNew Delhi : The US State Department has decided to impart information technology (IT) training to teachers and students in India and overseas. The training will be imparted in collaboration with Intel Corporation, a US Embassy release said here.

The U. S. State Department Educational and Cultural Affairs Bureau
(ECA) with Intel Corporation will be starting a program to provide IT skills and development training to teachers in India.
