Hanoi  - Broken dykes due to high tides have caused the flooding of more than 400 houses in Ho Chi Minh City, a disaster official said Monday.

"The latest broken section of dyke was breached at about 4 am today, flooding more than 100 houses," said Mai Tuan Binh, head of an irrigation unit in the Thu Duc district of Vietnam's largest city.

Wellington  - Health authorities in the Pacific island state of Fiji warned Monday of a possible typhoid outbreak following four days of torrential rains which have flooded large areas, killed seven people and forced more than 9,400 to be evacuated from their homes.

With three towns, including Nadi, home to the country's international airport, under water and another tropical depression threatened, the health ministry urged people to collect rainwater to drink and to beware of contamination that could cause typhoid, dengue fever and diarrhoea.

Islamabad, Jan 12 : Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has ruled out mid-term elections in the country, saying that the PPP-led ruling coalition would complete its five-year term.

Talking to the media after inaugurating the cadet college at Pano Aqil, Gilani refuted reports that the government was under any international pressure over the sacking of former national security adviser Mehmud Ali Durrani.

Gilani said India had provided a dossier on the alleged involvement of Pakistani militants in the Mumbai terrorist attacks.

London, Jan 12 : Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow is collaborating with her personal trainer Tracy Anderson to launch an international chain of gyms.

The `The Good Night' actress earlier teamed up with personal trainer Anderson when she produced and directed an exercise video for her.

Now, they are teaming up again to open a chain of gyms across Europe, Asia and Australia.
