Four militants killed in Manipur encounters

Manipur, ImphalImphal (Manipur), Jan. 3 : In separate encounters, the security personnel have gunned down four militants in eastern Imphal and Bishenpur Districts of Manipur.

Reports reaching here from Imphal said that a joint team of police commandos and Assam Rifles raided Sanjenbam village in Imphal East District on Saturday morning after getting some leads on militant movement in the area.

Annie Lennox and Alexei Sayle call for ceasefire in Gaza

London, Jan 3 : In a bid to put an end to Israel''s bombing of the Gaza Strip, Scottish singer Annie Lennox and English stand-up comedian Alexei Sayle have joined high-profile campaigners in voicing their concerns.

During a news conference in London, Lennox said that TV footage of the attacks, which have taken the lives of more than 400 innocent people, left her shaken.

"A few days after Christmas I came downstairs, put the television on and saw smoke pyres emanating from buildings and it shook me to the core," the BBC quoted her as saying.

"I was thinking, as a mother and as a human being, how was this going to be a solution to peace?

Angry fans hit Jamie Foxx with ice for playing new single thrice

While partying at club Liv in the Fontainebleau for LeBron James'' birthday earlier this week, the 41-year-old star "asked the deejay to play his new single three times in a row," the New York Post quoted a source as saying.

"The crowd was really annoyed, and a few people started throwing ice at him," the source added.

However, Foxx seemed unfazed by the fury and kept on dancing.

India, Malaysia sign agreement on employment of workers

MalaysiaNew Delhi, Jan 3 : India and Malaysia today signed an agreement for improvement of conditions of recruitment and employment of their workers in each other''s country.

The MOU was signed by the Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi and the Malaysian Human Resources Minister Dato Dr. S. Subramaniam in New Delhi.

The agreement sets out the broad procedure for employment of workers and outlines the responsibilities of employees, workers and recruitment agencies.

India and Malaysia agreed to facilitate employment of workers between the two countries and promote orderly recruitment and deployment of workers.
