Sarkozy visits with Syrian president on Mideast tour

Nicolas SarkozyDamascus - French President Nicolas Sarkozy again called for Mideast peace Tuesday, following a meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on the continuing conflict between Israel and the Islamist forces of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

"Every party should deploy and exercise pressure on Hamas so that weapons should be quiet and silent," said Sarkozy, who has faulted Hamas for prompting the Israeli attack with a week of missile attacks into Israel after a ceasefire expired December 19.

Tottenham Hotspur agree fee to re-sign Defoe from Portsmouth

Tottenham Hotspur LogoLondon - Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a fee with Portsmouth to re-sign striker Jermain Defoe.

The deal, which is expected to be around 15 million pounds, will see Defoe return to Spurs less than a year after he joined Portsmouth for 7.5 million pounds (11 million dollars).

The move will see Defoe reunited with manager Harry Redknapp, who signed him from Spurs last year before joining the London club late

in 2008.

Defoe is due to undergo a medical at Tottenham later on Tuesday.

Six 45nm business class desktop CPUs in 3Q09 to be launched by AMD

AMDIt has been learnt from reliable sources at AMD that after the recent update of its 45nm consumer desktop CPU schedule, the motherboard and chip-maker company is thinking to unveil six 45nm processors for its business class lineup in the third quarter of 2009.

The names of the planned CPUs revealed by the sources are the dual-core Athlon X2 B23 (2.9GHz/2MB) and B21 (2.7GHz/2MB), triple-core Phenom II X3 B73
(2.8GHz/7.5MB) and B71 (2.6GHz/7.5MB), and quad-core Phenom II X4 B93 (2.8GHz/8MB) and B91 (2.6GHz/8MB).

Kaneria banking on Minadad, Qadir for one day return

Danish KaneriaLahore, Jan. 6 : Pakistan's leg spinner Danish Kaneria has said that he is hopeful of making a come back to Pakistan's one day squad.

Kaneria said that the fact the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) now has officials who themselves were international players would help his cause.

"PCB director general Javed Miandad has been a big supporter and he has always guided me in my career," the Daily Times quoted Kaneria, as saying.
