Harry Potter publisher gives Wisden a new innings

London, Dec. 6 : Bloomsbury, the publisher that brought fame to J. K. Rowling by publishing her Harry Potter series, has in it’s a possession an idiosyncratic and enduring sporting reference books titled the Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack.

Hoping to capitalise on cricket’s booming popularity, particularly in Asia and in the game’s shorter Twenty20 format, Bloomsbury wants to take Wisden and all its eccentricities to a much broader audience.

The current edition of the yellow tome is the 145th. While the first Wisden Almanack, published in 1864 by John Wisden, contained 112 pages, the current edition contains nearly 1,700 pages.

Beyonce Knowles may perform on X Factor final

London, Dec 6: Pop singer Beyonce Knowles is set to keep her differences with Simon Cowell aside, and perform on the X Factor final, according to reports.

TV producer Cowell wanted Beyonce to appear for years, despite claiming she was “not sexy” and “not a great singer”.

Following the comments, Beyonce’s father and manager Matthew Knowles hit back and said, “Simon wouldn’t know a hit song, image or talent if it hit him in the face.”

However, the ‘Bootilicious’ singer seems to be keeping her feud with the X Factor judge aside.

“Beyonce and Cowell can put their differences from years ago to one side. He is way past it,” The Sun quoted a source as saying.

George Clooney romancing a waitress…again

New York, Dec 6 : Looks like George Clooney has a soft corner for cocktail waitresses, for after ending a year-long romance with Sarah Larson, the actor is now fancying another waitress at a London bar.

According to reports, the 47-year-old actor, after dining with pal Matt Damon at Nobu, went to the London’s trendy Whiskey Mist especially to see the petite brunette working behind the bar.

The actor, who is still sporting an ill-advised moustache for his role in ‘Men Who Stare At Goats’, reportedly met the bartender the last time he was in London.

"George arrived at the bar at midnight and went straight to talk [to her]," The New York Daily News quoted an insider as telling the Sun.

New Delhi, December 6 : Clint Eastwood dotes on his ‘dysfunctional family’ despite becoming the father of his seventh child at the age of 66.

The actor-director, whose career has spanned more than 50 years in the movie industry, has been married twice and has seven children with four different women.

The Oscar-winner, who tied the knot with journalist Dina Ruiz in 1996, however, revealed that he had grown accustomed to his atypical love life, reports China Daily.

He said: "I love my dysfunctional family. Dina fell pregnant on our honeymoon. After a few weeks, she said she felt a little nausea.
