Geelong cricket association investigates a case of racial discriminationAs reported by The Age, The Geelong cricket association is investigating a racial accusation made against 10 local cricketers from the Geelong city. The accusation is that about 10 local players from the Geelong city racially abused some players of Indian origin, during a fourth grade qualifying final.

The match was being played between the thomson club and Waurn Ponds. Waurn Ponds had 6 players of Indian origin and the players of the Thomson Club allegedly racially abused these players. Ron Beazley who is the Commissioner of Code of Conduct of Cricket Victoria has been sent by the authorities to speak to the players of both the teams and evaluate the situation before the official hearing on the case starts.

Ron Dew, the President of the Geelong Cricket association said this kind of an incident has never happened before in Geelong association and it is the first time that he has heard about such charges being pressed against some of the players. He also added that the association is glad to have to opportunity to take help from Ron Beazley and benefit from his experience in such a crucial matter. Beazley is assumed to be an expert on such issues and Dew calls him the most experienced person to tackle such issues.

The racial discrimination is is becoming an issue in Australia. It all started with an attack on an Indian student last year and so far there seems to be no ending to it. There are fresh cases surfacing every now and then.
