Five arrests, 200.000 euros worth of drugs seized in Austria
Vienna - Austrian police have arrested five persons suspected of dealing with doping substances and have seized 200.000 euros (266.000 dollars) worth of substances, Vienna's prosecution authority said on Friday.
"Some of the suspects are persons who are active in fitness and power training," prosecution spokesman Gerhard Jarosch told Austrian press agency APA.
The arrests came shortly after four persons were arrested on similar charges in March, including Walter Mayer, Austria's former cross-country skiing coach, and Stefan Matschiner, the former manager of disgraced cyclist Bernhard Kohl.
The alleged dealers were detained in several Austrian regions between February and early April on suspicion of breaking Austria's new anti-doping law, as well as the law regulating pharmaceuticals. (dpa)
