First time jobless claims in U.S. decreased last week

Labor-DepartmentLabor Department said today in Washington that the figures for the first time jobless benefits claims were reported lower by 5000 in the week ended March 13. This is the third week in a row when the jobless claims were reported down in United States.

The first time jobless benefits claims were reported to 457,000 in the recently ended week. The figures for jobless claims were reported in line with expectations of market analysts. They were expecting a figure of 455,000 for the week.

According to the data given by the Labor Department, the four week moving average of new jobless benefits claims lowered by 4250 and was reported to 471,250. The Labor Department report also showed that the number of people who received unemployment insurance was reported up to 457,900 last week.

Also the number of people receiving extended benefits grew in the period. Also the number of people continuing to receive regular unemployment benefits was increased by 37000 in the recently ended last week.

The data for first time jobless claims signals that the U. S. labor market is also recovering as the economy is improving.
