FIAT to offer 1.6 litre Linea soon in the Indian market

Fiat-Diesel-Linea-CarAfter launching the new two variants of the Punto, FIAT India is now aiming to bring a 1.6 litre diesel Linea and the sports version of the Punto in the Indian market. FIAT, which is making its third attempt to gain ground in the Indian market believes that the two brands of its portfolio i. e. Linea and Punto have established themselves in the minds of the consumers and its the right time to expand its offerings.

The company said that it will launch the two variants by June-August 2010 in the Indian market. Notably, the company also expects to double up its unit sales in 2010. For the calendar year of 2009, the company 25,000 units and for
2010 the target is a bullish 50,000 units.

While the company is coming out with these new models based on the customer feedback, the company is also working on launching some new models but this year the consumers will have to restrict themselves with only the variants.

However, the sports version of the Punto series is expected to be a lot more costly as compared to the classic Punto. Market watchers believe that there'll be a difference of almost 2-3 lakh in both the models.
