Arab League formally expresses support for Sudan's al-Bashir Doha - Arab League Secretary-General Amr Mussa on Monday formally expressed the body's support for Sudanese President Omar al- Bashir in his confrontation with the International Criminal Court and the UN Security Council.

In his final remarks Monday night, al-Bashir thanked the assembled Arab leaders for their support against "the court's unjust decision."

"We will spare no effort in establishing peace and security in every corner of Sudan," al-Bashir added.

Mussa was delivering the Arab League's final communique at the end of its 21st summit in Qatar on Monday.

The communique also vowed to pursue attempts to bring Israeli leaders to justice for alleged war crimes committed during Israel's 22-day offensive in the Gaza Strip that started December 27.

The Arab League also pledged to support the reconstruction of Gaza and attempts to reconcile rival Palestinian factions, and to hold Israel to a timeline for the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. (dpa)
