Euro Unemployment higher at 9.2 Per Cent
In April unemployment reached at a decade-high 9.2 per cent in 16 countries using the Euro.
As per the official data, it is zenith point of unemployment in nearly ten years. Earlier in March, the unemployment rate in the Eurozone was 8.9%.
If unemployment in the 27-member European Union (EU) is taken into consideration, it rose to 8.6 per cent in April from 8.4 per cent in the prior month.
According to Eurostat, nearly 20.8m people in the EU were unemployed in April.
This showed an increase of 556,000 when we comparison with March's figure.
In April, the highest unemployment rate of any country in the EU was depicted by Spain which stood at 18.1%, followed by Latvia (17.4%) and Lithuania (16.85).
Romania and Greece were the only countries in the 27- member EU which saw their unemployment rates fall.
Regarding the problem, economist Howard Archer (from IHS Global Insight) warned, "It will be some time before any improvement in economic activity feeds through to help the jobs outlook."
