DSK Motowheels to set up motorbike plant in Maharashtra

DSK Motowheels to set up motorbike plant in Maharashtra Pune-based DSK Motowheels, which assembles & sells South Korean Hyosung motorcycles, has announced its plans to establish a motorcycle plant in Maharashtra.

The planned facility will be used to produce smaller capacity motorbikes under the brand "DSK Hyosung" from the stable of the South Korea-based firm S and T group, over the coming 2-3 years in India.

DSK Motowheels Managing Director Shirish Kulkarni announced that the company was discussing a lot of ideas with the South Korean partner, and that the new facility would be developed at an investment of around Rs 350 crore.

Kulkarni said, "We are planning to set up a motorcycle plant in Maharashtra at an outlay of around Rs. 350 crore. The plan is to enter the 125cc and 150cc motorcycle segments by developing the engine."

Kulkani added that the company would also export 125cc and 150cc engines for its motorbikes.

Currently, DSK Motowheels' Wai, Pune-based Completely Knock Down facility is assembling motorbikes with engine capacities ranging between 250cc and 650cc.

The DSK Motowheels is an arm of Rs 5,000-crore diversified business conglomerate DSK Group.
