Dortmund's Kovac banned for three games

Frankfurt - Borussia Dortmund defender Robert Kovac has been banned for three Bundesliga matches over a post-game outburst at a referee, the German football federation DFB said on Tuesday.

Kovac was red-carded on Saturday after the final whistle of the match at SV Hamburg which Dortmund lost 2-1. The Croatian used strong language against referee Jochen Drees and an assistant, suggesting they had favoured the home team.

The DFB is also investigating against Dortmund coach Juergen Klopp, who was upset about the officiating as well. (dpa)
