Domestic tourism increases in NSW for December quarter
The National Visitor Survey, conducted recently by Tourism Research Australia, showed that the domestic tourism in the state of New South Wales has increased by 7% in December quarter. This growth in domestic tourism is seeing as a good sign for New South Wales tourism industry, according to the Tourism Minister for New South Wales Jodi McKay.
According to the survey by Tourism Research Australia, NSW was the most popular destination for domestic travel in the December quarter. New South Wales reported the most day trippers on 32% followed by Victoria and Queensland. Victoria and Queensland recorded 26% and 22% day trippers respectively.
Tourism Minister for New South Wales Jodi McKay said that regional cooperation played a major role in the latest increase in domestic tourism.
"The tourism department in NSW has 13 regional tourism organizations and all these regional organizations have the ability to come up with strategies to market their region," she said.
The survey also showed that the domestic visitor numbers in NSW's regional areas were reported up in the quarter. The Murray region was reported up by 40% followed by Capital Country and New England with an increase of
36% and 28% respectively.
