Domestic passenger car sales grew by 3.4% to reach 1,68,351 units
during the last month as compared to 1,62,813 units during the
corresponding month last year.

Facts announced by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers
(SIAM) also showed that motorcycle sales in the Indian market remained
up by 6.54% in the month under revie to 8,61,602 units as against
8,08,728 units during the same month of 2011.

The figures said that the overall two-wheeler sales during the same period zoomed 10.94% to 11,57,108 units.

The total two-wheeler sales during April 2011 stood at 10,43,010 units.

Sales of commercial vehicles surged 4.37% to 56,257 units in the month
of April as compared to 53,903 units in the year-ago period.

Overall vehicles sales crosswise categories registered 10.01% expansion
to 14,72,385 units in April this year from 13,38,430 units in the
corresponding month during 2011.
