Doctors at Orissa Medical Service Association call out the strike
Doctors of Orissa Medical Service Association had called out a strike on Sunday, which was followed by rise in patients. SCB Medical College Hospital authorities claim, that they have adequate doctors to tackle the jam of patients.
Along with secondary doctors gone for strike, 50 more doctors have decided to join the strike, after the association has stopped receiving patients in remote areas.
In order to tackle this situation and hoping this strike a failure, Hospital superintendent D. N. Maharana said that members of the Orissa Medical Teachers Association had been appointed on task.
He also added that in addition to the appointments of members, he had made provisions for numeral assistant professors belonging to different departments to deal with the casualty ward. To overcome the emergency, four ambulances were appointed at the casualty ward.
Hospital blood bank section has been controlled by the pathology section.
Normally, the number of patients for outdoor services lie between 1500-2500 but at present due to strike, hospital has its own indoor patients between 1200 to 1400. It was expected that hospital authorities will issue orders to all the doctors gone on strike.
Hospital superintendent D. N. Maharana said in order to avoid any delay in providing medical assistance to the patients, all the 64 Ayush (ayurvedic & homoeopathic) doctors, along with 29 allopathic doctors were selected on a contractual basis. They were appointed to take care of all the patients and to provide services at the City Hospital. Besides all this, 14 more health care centers have been opened in the city.
