Delta Air Lines flight diverted after passenger claimed to have explosives
Officials have said that a Delta Air Lines Paris-to-Atlanta flight was diverted to Bangor, Maine, Tuesday after a passenger claimed he had explosives on board.
CNN has reported that Flight 273, carrying 235 passengers and a crew of 13 on an Airbus A330, landed in Maine at about 3:30 p. m. Federal air marshals took the man into custody but investigators found no explosives.
The man, who claimed he had false documents, was being questioned, Delta spokeswoman Susan Elliott said.
CNN further reported that investigators said the passenger was a U. S. citizen and had not been flagged in any databases.
The other passengers and the crew would be sent back through customs. It was unclear whether they would complete their trip on Tuesday, Bangor International Airport spokeswoman Risteen Masterson said. (With Inputs from Agencies)
