Delhi sees rise in Chikungunya cases
The fatal disease of Chikungunya is back in the capital and the health agencies have reported close to 1000 cases in the last 20 days. Said V K Monga, MCD's Public Health Committee Chairman that government records have shown there are 33 cases of Chikungunya.
But when regular talks with the doctors and health centers were carried then it was seen that close to 1000 people have been affected so far. Both the private as well as the public hospitals are getting a large of number of affected patients have been coming on a continuous basis.
Almost all of them have complained of acute joint pain. They have also been reported to have very high grade of fever. Chikungunya is a disease that spreads through Aedes aegypti mosquito. And the key symptoms are the ones that have been mentioned above.
Said Monga that trouble happens because people are generally ignorant of the symptoms and only reach a health-center when the things get out of hand. He reiterated that there are no vaccines and no painkiller should be taken during the period of infection.
