Crude oil prices come closer to $69 per barrel
With the euro slipping against the U. S. dollar, crude oil prices fell to nearly $69 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange Tuesday.
It has been reported that the euro hit a four-year low against the dollar Monday, fell again Tuesday to $1.2213. The dollar index, which measures the U. S. dollar against six major currencies with a pro-rated formula, rose 1.09 percent Tuesday.
It was also reported that the euro has fallen 8 percent against the dollar in the past month. Oil prices, meanwhile, have fallen 19 percent off the year's high above $86 per barrel.
June delivery crude oil in New York lost 91 cents from a prior settlement to $69.174 per barrel.
Loosing 0.0272 cents, heating oil prices for June delivery went down to $1.958 per gallon.
Reformulated gasoline blend-stock prices shed 0.0065 cents to $2.0366 per gallon.
It was also reported that Henry Hub natural gas prices dropped 0.059 cents to $4.339 per million British thermal units.
According to reports of AAA at the pump, the national average price for unleaded regular gasoline dropped to $2.859 per gallon from Monday's $2.867. (With Inputs from Agencies)
