Coming Soon: 3 More Medical Colleges In Gujarat
Here is good news for those who aim to become doctors.
In a landmark decision, the Medical Council of India (MCI) on Wednesday gave its approval to set up three new medical colleges in Gujarat.
Moreover, it also granted permission to raise 180 seats in the existing colleges. This means that there will be 630 additional seats this year in Gujarat.
All the three new medical colleges would have 150 seats each. The colleges are Municipal Medical College in Ahmedabad, Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical college in Bhuj and Medical college run by K J Mehta TB hospital trust in Bhavnagar.
Apart from this, the MCI has given its approval to raise 50 seats each in Rajkot and Bhavnagar medical colleges.
The two colleges would now have 100 seats each. 30 seats would be added in Surat municipal medical college and the seat capacity would increase to 150.
At present, Gujarat has 1,555 medical seats in its 11 medical colleges.
