Coldplay make peace with Joe Satriani over copyright suit
London, February 7 : Coldplay has managed to sort out legal differences with Joe Satriani, who had served them with a lawsuit over plagiarism.
Turning to the court, Satriani had claimed that the rock band lifted his 2004 instrumental, "I Just Wanna Fly," for the basic melody of their 2008 hit song "Viva La Vida", a claim disputed by the rockers.
And now his lawyer Howard King has revealed that peace has been made over the entire matter, with Coldplay brining in a new legal team to fight the case.
"All of that has been averted now. Coldplay have hired one of the finest entertainment firms in California, which is probably good for all. We tried to have a conversation with Coldplay," the Daily Express quoted King as saying.
"Their British lawyers said there wasn''t anything to discuss. And then after we filed the lawsuit, they didn''t agree to accept service of the complaint," he added. (ANI)
