COAI Report: GSM Operators Sign Up 11.18 Mln Users In April India's GSM operators, excluding RCom, added 11.18 million mobile users during the last month, strengthening the subscriber base to 433 million.

The data was released by cellular operators association of India (COAI).

In March 2010, the country's GSM operators added about 14 million subscribers and the user base was 421.86 million.

The country's major telecom operator Bharti Airtel, which holds 30.16% market share, added three million users during the last month. With this, its subscriber base reached
130.6 million.

Vodafone, with 23.96 percent market share, signed up 2.9 million subscribers taking its total client base to 103.8 million.

Idea Cellular registered around 1.5 million users during the same period taking the subscriber base to 65.3 million and Aircel added up 1.6 million customers to hit 38.5 million mark.

State-run telecommunication companies Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) signed up 1.25 million and 33,217 users respectively.

The subscriber base of BSNL was 64.7 million and that of MTNL at 4.8 million.
