Chris in triple role in mockumentary series
Writer- actor Chris Lilley plays three lead roles in his new mockumentary series titled “ Summer Heights High” which will be premiered on Sunday on HBO.
Chris Lilley who has visualized "Summer Heights," plays all three lead characters. Jonah is a foul-mouthed, disruptive and seriously disturbed bully. Mr. G is a "performing arts" teacher who is unaware of the fact that he has become a buffoon. Ja'mie is a 16-year-old student who previously attended private school and sees her time at Summer Heights as slumming.
The three weird characters at the high school are the chief focus of "Summer Heights High. The series can be called a satire on "reality" shows and high school dramas.
At times the humor in “ Summer Heights High” seems to be offending. Some of the scenes involving Mr. G and the school's special-education students become very scathing. The humor is not targeted at the students but at the teacher Mr. G. Ja'mie's obsession for a 12-year-old boy is also uncomfortably strange.
But the series is a wonderful delineation of detail and small moments, done realistically. The cast is supportive for the roles assigned to them. Part of the cast was taken from the school where the shooting of the series was done.
