London - Chelsea confirmed on Friday that they have signed striker Dean Sturridge on a free transfer from Premier League rivals Manchester City.

"Daniel Sturridge has agreed to join on a four-year contract," a Chelsea statement said on the club website.

The 19 year old impressed last season, scoring four goals, and rejected a contract extension at City.

He is Chelsea's second signing of the summer, following goalkeeper Ross Turnbull, who joined from Middlesbrough.(dpa)
