The Department of Post (DoP) has introduced an electronic money transfer facility across the country that would make remittance of money through the postal route faster.
The new facility would be offered to customers at no extra cost, and the money orders will be booked electronically from one post office to another post office across the country, which are inter-connected through Internet or broadband.
Technology giant Infosys Technologies, which develops applications, designs supply chains and offers back-office services, has announced better-than-expected results for the three month period ended Sep 30, 2008, helped by a weaker rupee.
After tax and minority interest, the company has registered a growth of 30.18% in its consolidated net profit, which stood at Rs 14,320 million as against Rs 11,000 million for the corresponding period of the last year (Sep 2007).
Leading telecom service provider, Airtel would provide direct-to-home (DTH) satellite TV service in the country. The company launched Airtel digital TV on Monday. It can be purchased from 21,000 retail points and Airtel relationship centers in 62 cities.
Airtel would offer three different offers for the North and southern population of India. Its price in the northern region would start from Rs. 2,499 and for the South it would be available for Rs. 1,499. The company would provide over 175 channels through three different packages.
Mr. Sudip Nandy is appointed as the new CEO of Communication software firm Aricent on Tuesday. Mr Nandy was earlier serving in telecom, media and technology business of Wipro for about 25 years and also headed European operations of Wipro. The Economic Times had earlier reported about joining of Nandy as CEO of Aricent. Aricent’s former CEO, Ash Bhardwaj left the company to start his new business.
Nandy would be included in the board of directors of Aricent after his joining.
