British retail sales strengthens, survey
According to a new survey, the retail sales in the UK have strengthened at the beginning of the month recording its fastest sales growth since June of the previous year.
Anew survey conducted by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) said that about 46 per cent of all the stores surveyed said that sales were higher than at the same period of the previous year. Only about 12 per cent said that sales have fallen during the period. The positive balance of 34 was higher than 27 recorded during the month of August and its highest in 15 months.
The CBI surveys until July were indicating flat sales in the UK but there are indications that the sales have improved in the UK. Around four in 10 are expecting sales to be higher than next month than October in the previous year while only nine per cent expect their sales to fall in the coming months. The data shows that wholesalers and online retailing also recorded growth during recent months in the UK. Half of all surveyed wholesalers said sales were up on a year earlier while online spending is on the rise in the country.
